Fungi Friday - COLORS OF THE LATE SUMMER

in #steemstem5 years ago (edited)

It's very warm here these days ... during the middle part of the day ... but after the recent storms with heavy rain ...

... and with constant humidity during the refreshing nights and in the morning ...

... many interesting and colorful mushroom appeared ...

... in the woods ...

... and even on the open meadows ...

... and so ... in this warm, humid atmosphere of the last days of summer, I  like to go in search for mushrooms barefoot-, like when going to the beach ...

... and unlike the usual mid-autumn fungi invasion, this one is accompanied by many flowers ...

... and this lush mix of fungi ...

... flowers ...

... and colorful fallen leaves ...

... gives the atmosphere a fantastic feel of a new, short fifth season that combines autumn and spring with a breath of summer, all in one ...

... some fast-dissolving mushrooms ...

... are covered with other fungi ...

... that gives them a strange and funny, hairy look ... so they look a bit like little monsters ... like something out of the cheap monster movie ...... while some other mushrooms ...

... retain their shape and stay elegant much longer ...

... and so ... step ...

... by step ...and mushroom after mushroom ...

... with some flowers in between ...

... this post has come to an end :)

... and here comes the final picture ... a little collection of edibles getting ready to be processed through the kitchen ...

... that's it, have a great Fungi Friday ... as always in these posts on Steemit, the photographs are my work ...

Sort:

We're having an early mushroom season too, for exactly the same reason; early rain and high humidity. I wish we had the witch's heart ones here, though. Those are so cool. (Is that the correct name? I can't remember.)

True, these witch's heart fungi are very strange and decorative :) I like them very much

And is nice to have this early fungi season ... here is usually to dry ... so this is the first one in many years here ... I remember some situation like this year ... but that was pretty long ago

Grazie :)

I love a lot of pics here, including the fast-dissolving ones, and this, all several takes.

btw this one is my fave flowers. dunno its name in english!

have a !BEER, my friend! are you already welcome back?

Me neither ... :D and I don't even know the name of this flower in Croatian or in my dialect ... and is a very common flower ... but I don' hear anybody here mention its name like the people mention violets or daisies ...

just googled it: in Russian it is named 'Львиный зев', in Latin 'Antirrhínum', in English -- 'SnapDragon'.

Antirrhinum

Cool, thanks. Hehe, Zijevalica in Croatian ... I actually new this name ... but thought that was a kid joke name for another plant :D

Wow, a lot of mushrooms! Can these be eaten? The place I am in has already entered the fall, there should not be too much rain, and the mushrooms may not grow.

Usually, here the fungi appear in bigger numbers much later ... and I think after this short explosion there will be no fungi for some time ... only the ones on the last picture with me sorting them are edible ... the others I photographed because were photogenic :) and they are all non-edible ... the lonely umbrella on the open meadow even deadly ... even in minuscule doses

It is a great variety of fungus that he could appreciate.

:) a lot of fungi colors around

Are those red russulas edible?

No, no ... I mean, I don't know exactly about those ... I don't eat them

Neither do i, i've read you can parboil them to remove the toxins but i dont want to experiment.

Maybe I will try this ... one day :) but only if times turn really bad and I get extremely poor with little or nothing else to eat.

Perhaps the sunglasses grasshoppers would be safer to eat.
