Experiments in the Large Hadron Collider may lead to the creation of a black hole!

in #steemstem6 years ago (edited)

The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) is the world's largest device for studying interactions between molecules. This accelerator, about 27 kilometers long, is located in the European Center for Nuclear Research, CERN, near Geneva. The fact that the experiments conducted there may be dangerous was observed from the beginning of the operation of this device.

At present accelerated accelerator particles get higher and faster speed and energy. It arouses anxiety among some scientists. Martin Rees, a British astronomer and cosmologist warns that the failure of such experiments may lead to the creation of a black hole nucleus, which will make the Earth squeezed into a ball of very dense matter with a diameter of only 100 meters! The scientist caused a great stir in the scientific environment when he said that there is little probability that the collision of elementary particles at high speed in such a device can cause disaster. According to the astronomer, the biggest threat is to create a black hole that would be the first to absorb the Earth. These experiments also carry other threats, such as the emergence of a new type of matter whose behavior we don't know. This can even lead to the destruction of the device itself or even affect space-time and lead to destruction in a way that is not yet well-known to us.

The emerging warnings about the possible dangers of this experiment aren't taken seriously. Most of the scientific community believes that the probability of a catastrophe is negligible. Meanwhile, the Large Hadron Collider in subsequent experiments is achieving ever-greater speed, leading to spectacular collisions of particles that reach higher and higher energy. Can you ever say a stop? What if one day the world we know just disappears in a fraction of a second and it's our fault? As you can see, intelligence and the desire to learn about the world around us can lead to our destruction. Do you think that such experiments can harm us?

Greetings to lovers of Astronomy!

We are like little kids that keep playing until someone gets hurt. Then go find something new to take to the limit.

Maybe someone who worked there will share his thoughts @lemouth I personally strongly doubt that's possible

I'm a little scared ;)

Don't get caught up in fear, check out my comment to astromaniac.

All the great technological engineers of the time said the Titanic was "unsinkable". So if they have opened Pandora's Box look at it on the bright side we should have about 107 years before we are downsized. It will happen in a heart beat and we will never know. More good news we should be totally relaxed and have nothing to worry about. Have a nice day, however long it is .
