RE: Exploring Hallucination #2; Carbon Monoxide Poisoning And Seeing Ghosts

in #steemstem6 years ago

I am absolutely fascinated by this topic @conficker! :D

And despite having done quite a bit of reading about it this is the first time I have come across the information of hallucinations as a result of carbon monoxide poisoning'. Now, I am interested in reading Angela L. Chiew and Nicholas A. Buckley's paper :)

Only a few weeks ago I watched a documentary about how, as of late, young people in Argentina are resorting to exorcism to address mental issues such as bulimia, suicidal ideation etc... It really upsets me to see that!

Like you said, people should not favour healers, exorcists and so forth instead of psychologists and psychiatrists. But still happens nowadays. Admittedly, in South America religious beliefs still weigh heavily in peoples' concepts, beliefs and morals. So, the combination of that with some individuals (like the church father) willing to make money off them is not a very pretty one!

Lovely write-up!
Thanks for the new info :)

Yes the gas-poisoning-in-connection-to-ghosts thing was new to me too!
