The Imo state government has reportedly purchased a Christmas tree and put up decorations said to be worth 600 million naira, despite owing his people salaries of several months.

Governor Rochas Okorocha of IMO state broke record by erecting the tallest Christmas tree in Nigeria.

Earlier last month, Okorocha reportedly approved N600 million for the Christmas tree and New Year decorations.

The tree and cost also generated controversy and sparked anger among Nigerians on social media.
