An Easy Way To Find Winners In Major League BaseballsteemCreated with Sketch.

If you're looking for an easy way to find where to look for winners in MLB, I'll share with you a method my Dad taught me to help get yourself in the ballpark - pun intended.

Baseball is different from most other professional sports, in that their schedule revolves around the series, rather than a one time game. NFL, NHL and NBA all play one game at a time against one opponent. Where baseball has the teams heading into town for 3 to 4 days and playing more than one game in succession. The reason this is important is that it allows you to focus and several games at once, with the same teams playing, resulting in you only needing to focus on one series at a time. With this in mind, I'll lay out the key elements to look for with this strategy.

Use the standings to find a good team on a losing streak that's coming home off a road trip. Nothing enrages an MLB team more than a losing streak. Especially a team that's either good, or should be better than their record, but just happens to be losing of late. Combine that with a road trip that's coming to an end and a return home and you'll have a team that at least has a good opportunity for a turnaround.

Look for a team that will be hosting their heated rivals, or someone they really want to beat. MLB teams play in more defined divisions these days and have regional rivals they play more often than the rest of the teams in the league. There's extra incentive to not only beat these teams, but their place in the standings either ahead or behind them, throws added incentive to win in these circumstances.

Stay away from teams that are on a losing streak because they're just a bad team. Some teams lose for a reason - they're not very good and you should avoid picking or parlaying them if at all possible. Don't be lured in by higher moneylines. You'll be more consistent concentrating on picking winners that win, than losers that maybe pull one out from time to time.

The goal here over a long MLB season is consistency. The only people that hate losing more than the athletes involved are the bookies that make a gazillion dollars of you picking wrong. The flip side to this is if you're patient, you can turn the tide and build season long profitability. With that in mind, let me show an example for a game today:

May 29, 2017 - Baltimore Orioles VS New York Yankees

Currently, the Orioles are riding a 7 game losing streak, some on the road, some not. Keep in mind, the O's we're nearly a playoff team last year and it took a great season by the Red Sox to keep them from the American East title. They still have a good team this year, with a record 2 games above .500. A 7 game losing streak is definitely uncharacteristic for them and in this scenario, should prove to be an opportunity for them to turn it around. A look at the standings makes it easy to spot this part.

The Orioles were on a short road trip, but are now returning home to face their two most hated teams; The Yankees and Boston Red Sox. History with these teams will have them motivated to win and combine that with the pressing desire to break a long losing streak and were pretty much in the ballpark.

Today's game has one of Baltimore's top pitchers taking the mound. he may actually be the best they have, but just for what to look for today, he looks pretty good as the Yankees don't actually have their top guy starting. (Bundy VS Montgomery)

I'm going to bet this one this way: Orioles to win, 5 games straight. There's a good possibility that they can turn a seven game losing streak into a five game winning streak at home. Also, there's a good chance of pulling off a 3 out of 5 or 4 out of 5 and being in profitability.
