Let’s Re-draft the 2015 NBA Draft

The last time, I did a re-drafting of the 2014 NBA draft filled with future stars with high potentials. Today I am going to re-draft the 2015 NBA draft that include stars like Karl Anthony Towns, Devin Booker and Kristaps Porzingis. The actual draft didn’t go well because some top players in that draft class are selected late and some players that are not actually good are drafted very high. Now, if we are going to re-draft this class according to their current status in the league, the list I am going to show you would be the correct arrangement of the draft but I’m not gonna give you all the 30 teams, just the top players in the 2015 NBA draft. Let’s do this.
1. Minnesota Timberwolves
The Wolves originally selected Karl-Anthony Towns out of Kentucky. This is the most accurate pick in this draft. The Wolves made a right decision drafting KAT. He showed outstanding talent in his college days that picks up attention of NBA scouts and that is the reason why he was the top prospect in the draft. Big men with a soft shooting catch, athleticism and dominant post moves all together in one body are hard to find today. He is just well fitted in the NBA today. A big man who can shoot threes, drive to the basket with the dribble and a strong body who can bang up with other tough guys in the league. Towns have enough talent to lead the Wolves to the playoffs and lead the team in scoring and rebounding. Rebound is an issue with him but if he develops his game and reach his full potential, he can be the man in Minnesota leading them to success.
2. Los Angeles Lakers
The Los Angeles Lakers seemed like they couldn’t find the right draft prospects in the past NBA drafts. They originally selected D’Angelo Russell for the 2nd over all draft but Russell couldn’t capitalize and just couldn’t reach what are people are expecting him to be. The steal of the draft in that class is absolutely Devin Booker who was selected at no. 13 by the Phoenix Suns. The Lakers had the chance to get Booker but like many teams, they didn’t see that Booker will be a major star at his young age. Booker is now an elite scorer at 22 years old and he already had a career high of 70 points. Nobody saw that coming and the Lakers could’ve been a monster team if they drafted Booker that year.
3. Philadelphia 76ers
The Sixers have drafted top players in the past few years but the only realistic draft for them were Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid. Those two are real studs in the making and lived up to the expectation or maybe exceeds expectations of NBA specialists. The Sixers had more chance of getting valuable players but they failed and wasted some of their draft picks. They wasted it on players like Nerlens Noel, Markelle Fultz and the 2015 3rd over all pick Jahlil Okafor. In my opinion Kristaps Porzingis is the right pick for the 3rd overall. But Porzingis is not really a top draft prospect. He was even booed on draft night when he was selected by the New York Knicks as the 4th overall. But Kristaps proved the doubters wrong. He showed that he is truly something special and he can be a superstar in this league. The Sixers really wasted their chance to make a true super team with young stars. Just imagine Ben Simmons, Joel Embiid and Kristaps Porzingis on the same team. That would be a night mare for every team in the NBA.
4. New York Knicks
New York selected Kristaps Porzingis at number 4 and that was an amazing selection. Even though scouts don’t see him as a future star, they still picked him and believe that he would not be a bust. Kristaps exceeds expectations and became a major problem in the league. A 7-foot-3 power forward who can drive to the basket with the dribble and can shoot accurately and consistently from beyond the arc. His shooting is his main weapon but he’s still good in the post. His length helps him big time defensively as he became a great shot blocker. He is not a dominant rebounder but his offense is superb. But if we will make a re-draft, Porzingis will not be available at the 4th selection and I would be choosing Myles Turner to be the 4th overall pick. Turner is a great two-way center who can score and who can defend. He has the potential to lead the league in blocks and at the same time be a scorer who can produce 15 points a night. But his energy is lacking and it’s holding him back to be a better player.
5. Orlando Magic
The Orlando Magic selected Mario Hezonja who they though would be a legit scorer for them because of his sharp shooting skills. Hezonja didn’t live up to the expectation and just reach a role player potential. Magic give up on him early and traded him to the New York Knicks. But with New York, he has shown some flashes of the player they expected him to be having some good games there. Now, if we’re gonna redraft this, the Orlando Magic could’ve been better if they selected D’Angelo Russell as the 5th overall pick. Russell could be the point guard they eagerly want and leads them with their offense. Russell is not that great of a play maker but he can provide the scoring for the Magic.
6. Sacramento Kings
Willie Cauley-Stein was the 6th overall draft pick in the 2015 NBA draft selected by the Sacramento Kings. He is a great player though at the center position but he cannot be a top center in the league. He is just an average athletic center who cannot dominate the paint. Also, his defense is not that impressive at all. If we’re going to re-draft, the King should’ve selected Josh Richardson who was the 40th overall draft pick by the Miami Heat. Richardson is one of the top steals of the draft in 2015 obviously. He is averaging 18.5 points, 3.6 assists and 4.1 rebounds for the Heat this season. Miami saw his potential and when he was given the chance, he did not waste it and immediately showed his impact and presence for the Heat. He became a starter and now one of the most important pieces in Miami.
7. Denver Nuggets
The Denver Nuggets selected Emanuel Mudiay 7th overall. I personally think that this is just fine. Mudiay’s development was slow but I think the Nuggets should’ve been patient with him. I think injuries hurt his development and keep him from getting better. Now that he is in New York, he is currently showing his talents and making the league felt the reason why he is projected to be a top draft prospect in 2015. He is now the starting point guard for New York and he is averaging 14.4 points, 3.6 assists and 3.0 rebounds with a Player Efficiency Rating of 17.21. That was good for a 22-year-old baller who is just starting to find the right rhythm in his career. The Knicks are lucky to have him as he gets better every night.
8. Detroit Pistons
The Detroit Pistons saw a lot of potential in Stanley Johnson. He was so hyped before he was drafted but nothing seems to be right when he stepped in the NBA. He played great in Summer league almost averaging 30 points a game but all of that disappears when he met the pros. He couldn’t be the guy who can score 30 against the true superstars. He was also seen as a great perimeter defender that’s why everybody thought that he will be the next two-way star like Jimmy Butler or Paul George. Detroit should’ve drafted Willie Cauley-Stein at the 8th pick. Willie could be a great back up center behind Andre Drummond and provide great numbers off the bench.
9. Charlotte Hornets
The Charlotte Hornets picked Frank Kaminski as the 9th overall pick in the draft but Kaminski looks like a bust even at number 9. He is not even worth the 9th pick as he cannot bring his great talent that we saw when he was in college in the NBA. We saw him had some great games with Charlotte but he doesn’t seem to be consistent. Charlotte should’ve taken Trey Lyles instead of Kaminski. Lyles can be that stretch 4 who can play inside and out. That would be more beneficial for the Hornets rather than Kaminski.
10. Miami Heat
Miami chose Justice Winslow for the 10th overall pick in the 2015 NBA draft. The pick seems okay at the beginning but Miami should’ve selected Terry Rozier after he shown the league that he is something else. Winslow is a great small forward who can contribute night in and night out but only as a role player. He is not a star caliber and I don’t see him to have a potential to be like that. Rozier is more interesting. He can be a starting point guard for the Heat now that Dragic is aging. Rozier is a starter caliber of talent as we seen when Kyrie Irving was down for Boston.

Well, for me it must be Kristaps Porzingis as the no.1 draft pick. That's just for me, I see him play better than Towns from the pasts seasons of NBA
The Timberwolves were in love with Porzingis. Their management was split on who to take. It was really close between those two. The Lakers were hoping and praying that the Wolves would have taken Kristaps. Then they could have taken Towns.
