Manchester City pulled off a remarkable comeback from a goal down against Howe’s men to win 2-1 at the death of the game. Raheem Sterling came off the bench in the second half and scored the winning goal for the citizens. Sterling’s celebration was cut short though as he received his second yellow for celebrating with the fans. That won’t really matter much because City really needed that win to stay within touching distance to Rival Manchester United at the top of the table. Crystal Palace lost their third consecutive game in the new Premier League Season. They are yet to register a point nor score a goal but have already shipped in 6 goals in 3 matches. It’s not looking good for Paul Clement’s men at the moment; he needs to turn this around or we could begin placing our bets on which manager first get the sack. Billic is another manager that needs a quick turnaround. He brought in Hernandez to strengthen the attack, and he has done a fine job scoring two goals, but the defense has not really helped but has condemned West Ham to the bottom of the table.
It was the first win for Rafa Benitez’s Newcastle this season, and it was a very comprehensive one, easily blowing away West Ham 3-0. Benitez must feel very relieved by this result after admitting last weekend that maybe his team was not ready for the Premier League challenge, but we can see that they are already settling in well. High flying Huddersfield Town, a team playing the EPL for the first time, maintained their unbeaten record after they played out a 0-0 draw with Southampton. This result sees Huddersfield sit third on the EPL Table.
Manchester United, yet to concede a goal, maintained their 100% start to the new campaign by defeating Leicester City 2-0 at the Old Trafford Stadium. I really fancy Manchester United to win the trophy come May. Morata scored one and turned provider as Chelsea defeated Everton 2-0. Tottenham yet again failed to win at the Wembley as they could only manage a 1-1 draw against Burnley.
The big one of the weekend was between Liverpool and Arsenal at the Anfield Stadium. It was an embarrassing day in the office for Arsene Wenger, his staff, his players and also for all we Arsenal fans. Goals from Firmino, Mane, Salah, and Sturridge were enough to secure an emphatic 4-0 victory against the Gunners. There are so many things to be said about the game from the line-up to the tactics, to the dressing room atmosphere, the man management. It was really a one-sided affair as Arsenal failed to register a single shot on target as against Liverpool’s 10 shots on target. That performance dropped Arsenal down to 16 on the table and Liverpool are currently second.
