Real Madrid no ha tenido un gran inicio de pretemporada en la International Champions Cup, ya que perdieron en tanda de penales con el Manchester United, para luego perder por un abultado marcador de 4 a 1 frente al Manchester City, lo cual no es nada positivo para los gigantes de España, ya que a pesar de ser este un torneo de encuentros amistosos, el Real Madrid es un equipo plagado de jugadores competitivos a los cuales seguramente no le han sentado bien estos resultados.

Es por ello que este encuentro es vital para el club blanco por dos cosas, primero que todo es El Clásico, el plato fuerte del torneo amistoso, y solo el hecho de tener obtener una victoria en este encuentro haría insignificante la decepción de comenzar la temporada perdiendo ante los dos equipos de la ciudad de Manchester.

Segundo, desde un punto de vista táctico y psicológico sería perfecto que Real Madrid lograra ganar este encuentro ya que dentro de poco tendrán que enfrentarse con Barcelona nuevamente en la SuperCopa de España, el cual ya no sería un encuentro amistoso sino una competición muy importante en donde se disputa un trofeo entre el ganador de La Liga y de La Copa del Rey, la cual sería jugada dentro de unos días en territorio español (13 y 16 de agosto).

Barcelona ha tenido una excelente pretemporada en la International Champions Cup hasta ahora, comenzando con una victoria ante la Juventus 2-1, para luego conseguir otra victoria ante el difícil Manchester United de Mourino por la mínima de 1-0.

Lo único negativo hasta ahora de la pretemporada para los Blaugranas ha sido la polémica sobre si Neymar decidirá irse o no del club para integrar las filas del Paris Saint Germain. Y la única solución que tiene este gran equipo para mantenerse concentrados y minimizar esta situación ha sido jugar un buen futbol empleando el estilo característico de este equipo de tener un mayor porcentaje de posesión del balón que sus rivales, para de estar forma permitir que el tridente de Messi-Neymar-Suarez haga su magia para anotar los goles necesarios para la victoria.

El encuentro que disputaran contra el Real Madrid será vital para cerrar con broche de oro su participación en el torneo, ya que lograrían 3 objetivos al hacerlo.

El primero seria vencer a sus rivales históricos, lo cual siempre será un objetivo debido a la naturaleza de los jugadores de este gran club. Segundo llegar de buena forma al encuentro de la SuperCopa de España que se jugara dentro de pocos días en suelo español, y el cual es de gran importancia, ya que sería el primero trofeo oficial y de muchísima importancia para el club blaugrana en la temporada 2017-2018. Tercero sería el de mantener un buen ambiente en el vestuario del equipo que permita hacer más fácil la labor de mantener a Neymar en el equipo culé.
