Jordan Spieth is the winner today at the 146th Open Championship! He completes a wild round that had him and runner up Matt Kuchar battling all day in some tough elements. Unlike Saturday's round, today was much colder and extremely windy.
Americans, Spieth and Kuchar, were both at -8 after they finished the 12th hole. But the next hole is when things got crazy. Kuchar teed off first and hit his drive in the right rough. When Spieth struck his drive, it went WAY right and landed in the side of a hill. It took about 5 minutes for anyone to find the ball and over 20 minutes until his next shot. He had to take a penalty drop and hit his shot from the practice range. It looked like Spieth would have a double bogey at best as this unfolded. But he hit a miraculous shot that landed right by the green. He went up and down and only got a bogey. It was amazing to see.
Jordan Spieth’s Magic was just beginning. He birdied the 14th hole and got the stroke back. Even more impressive, he nailed a 40 foot putt on the 15th hole for an EAGLE! The crowd went nuts. With that putt, he took a 2 stroke lead and Matt Kuchar couldn't catch him and finished in second place.
Spieth struggled on the front 9 and only hit 36% of the fairways. He was great on his second shots though as he reached the green in regulation 72% of the time. His drive average was very strong at 304 yards per drive. Spieth putted 30 times on the day and that was good enough for the 23 year old to win.
Matt Kuchar is also a fan favorite and he once again was unable to win his first Major. Kuchar has had a phenomenal career at the age of 39. He hit 43% of the fairways from the tee box and reached the green in regulation 61% of the time. He drove the ball 294 yards on average. Kuchar was great with his putter again with only 28 putts.
It never seemed that anyone else was going to challenge Spieth and Kuchar this weekend. The pair remained at the top of the leader-board all weekend. The Open Championship is the most popular golf tournament worldwide and this year’s was fantastic. Both Americans should be proud of their efforts.
Are you glad that Spieth won? Did you think he was going to choke after his drive on the 13th hole? Let us know what you think! Cheers!

Golf is such a gentlemanly sport, what a great game and the British Open just tops them all in my honest opinion. Beautiful scenery and a lot of water/bunker hazards.

Reading this article seem interesting , is like the GOLF is a lot of fun, but I will love to see some pictures from the event.

great 👍 👍
