What an incredible 3rd Round at The Open Championship today! The sun was shining and the wind was low, which lead to some dynamite scores.
Jordan Spieth holds on to the lead for the third straight day. He shot another 65 as he sits at -11 heading into Sunday morning. Spieth has a two shot lead over Matt Kuchar who also played well on Saturday.
Before we get into the stats of the leaders, we have to tell you about Branden Grace’s historic day. He became the first golfer in the history of the PGA to shoot a 62 in a Major Championship. Grace sunk a short putt on hole 18 to finish the day with 8 birdies and no bogies. He also crept up to a tie for fourth place heading into the final round.
Back to Jordan Spieth, who had 5 birdies and no bogeys on the day. He hit 64% of the greens and 78% of the greens in regulation. And his drive average bounced back with a drastic improvement from the second round to a 316 yard average. His putting was solid with only 28 putts as well. Spieth is in a great position as he prepares for the final round of The Open and yet another Major Championship.
Matt Kuchar is hoping to ruin Spieth’s plans on Sunday. The pair played together today and will one again tee off tomorrow in the same group. Kutcher had 7 impressive birdies but a bogey on the 4th hole and a double bogey on the 16th hole is keeping him from the lead. He hit the fairway 50% of the time and reached the green in regulation 67% of the round. His average drive also improved to 300 yards and he putted the exact same amount of times as Jordan Spieth with 28 putts on the day.
U.S. Open Champion, Brooks Koepka, is tied for third place with Canadian, Austin Connelly. They are 6 shots back of Spieth and will need to post some low scores to put the pressure on Spieth and Kuchar. Connelly is only 20 years old and the crowd is loving him so far.
Jordan Spieth has a chance at history tomorrow. If he wins The Open, he will have won every Major PGA Tournament at a younger age than Tiger Woods and Jack Nicklaus.
What did you think of the 3rd Round? Will Spieth hold on tomorrow? Can someone match Branden Grace’s 62? Let us know what you think! Cheers!

Hi, my friend @steemsports , great post, congratulations, keep it up.

Thank you for reading! Are you watching the final round tomorrow?

I feel like Speith will hold on and complete the quadruple crown!

He looks strong. But if the weather remains nice, someone can put a monster number like Grace did today.

Thanks a lot!
