Anil Kumble has stepped down as the head coach of the Indian Cricket team on Tuesday. He was appointed as the head coach of the team on June 24, 2016 and since then he has led the Indian team to five Test series wins against West Indies, England, New Zealand, Australia and Bangladesh. He recently led India to the finals of the ICC Champions Trophy in England.
Kumble’s first series as coach was against the West Indies in July where India played four Test matches, winning 2-0. Kumble continued to produce his magical show when India thrashed New Zealand 3-0 in the Test series, making it his second consecutive Test series win. India kept their form going under Kumble’s role as they defeated England 4-0 in the five Test series in November-December and stretched their winning streak to three, Test series wins.

India’s fourth Test series win came against Bangladesh where India looked brutal on the pitch and dominated every session of the game. India went on to dominate on their home soil which marked as India’s 19-match unbeaten record in Tests. The most challenging series awaited the hosts, a four-match Test series against Australia in January. India lost the first match but made a sensational comeback, thrashing the Kangaroos in the last two Tests, winning the series 2-1.
India also registered two one-day series wins under Kumble’s tenure, as India defeated New Zealand in a five one-day match series 3-2, followed by a 2-1 win over England in a three match series.
Here we look at India’s Test series wins during Anil Kumble’s tenure:
Four Test match away series: West Indies 0, India 2
Three Test match home series: India 3, New Zealand 0
Five Test match home series: India 4, England 0
One Test match home series: India 1, Bangladesh 0
