Dow Jones – beware increased volatility / Silver breakout!
Dow Jones – beware increased volatility / Silver breakout!
If you are invested in the Dow and other major markets keep a close eye on the increased volatility in the markets. This in accompanied by an increase in volume as more fear is creeping into the markets. Someone knows that something is going to happen, but it isn't obvious as to exactly what yet. Perhaps it is the collective consciousness of human society that subconsciously knows something is a miss.
Take a look at the chart:
You can see the failure of the exponential move resulting in the volatility that we've seen in recent weeks. Looking at todays move it has broken north of the down trend line but I wouldn't expect it to last. Wait until market closure before reaching your conclusions. It's highly likely that todays upward move will pull back somewhat to prevent the down trend from breaching. Following that it is likely to resume it's downward momentum following the trend line.
Silver quick review
Following yesterdays update on the metals indicating that consolidation will continue until 1st week in May at the latest (post linked below) lets take a look at silver short term:

You can see that silver is making a break for freedom today as it cleanly breaks upwards out of the short term consolidation that has been frustrating us for the past few weeks. This is a great signal and even though gold has not yet broken out, if silver should maintain it's upward move into the market close, expect gold to break out any day. That means that we will finally head through 1360 and upwards.
For disclosure, I'm not a professional financial advisor and this is not investment advice, merely my own observations of the market and indexes, so do your own research.

Good observations and thoughts @unclehermit
Thanks for your comment. Silver still above the line. Today should be a good day unless it gets whacked.
A smackdown is always possible.
Particularly in silver.
