A Day At The Museum
Hello Friends,
I am making a departure from my usual posting habits today, and wish to share my family’s trip to the Royal BC Museum in beautiful downtown Victoria. My 5 year old, Charlie, who loves the movies with a similar name was excited to go, but he wanted to go at night — so he could see all the artifacts come alive!
Perhaps it is a good thing we went when we did, ‘cause this Wooly Mammoth would be rather frightening if it was still stomping around in animated mode.
On through the marine life section — i especially liked these species renderings.
There were birds to...Taxi!(dermy).
And sea-lions — hi Charlie!
And bears and deer...
Next, i ducked into the “wildlife photography” section and got the following pics b4 security informed me there was no photography in this section...
And my favorite pic i was able to get...
Next onto the indigenous peoples section
A hand-made crab trap!
And a cross section of an original styled abode:
Then the old 5 cent movie house.
Playing Charlie Chaplin movies:
An old car named Elizabeth
And some rifle action for my
Buds who like the pew-pewers!
And a horse of course!
Then we checked out the mining section. Here’s Charlie drilling for gold — and looking remarkably like the miner on the back of my new Pan Am rounds.
Here he is sluicing... the big waterwheel was actually spinning, it was neat!
GOLD!!! I tell ya’s!
But ya gotta’ get yer own ass up here!
Next we checked out Whaling and Fisheries
And then onto forestry, milling and tool works. It was cool and i was thinking of some friends here on Steemit who are interested in this stuff. I am a fairly decent diy carpenter so this historical stuff was cool to see.
And then boom. Fuck i am old lol... here’s the state of the art from circa @thedamus
And a cool pov of the Legislature Bldg.
Back at the hotel underground parking lot i went to get something out of the car and had to laugh at the Valet’s choices... ours is the green one!
Well that’s a lot of photos, i admit, but it was an awesome family fun time with lots to see. I hope you enjoyed it too!
Cheers, from @thedamus

Nice trip dude. That Commodore looks like the one I remember from my school growing up! I remember using cassettes even!
Your boy looks like he's having a great time too!
All good in the hood fat-e!!!
Looks like you're having a great time bro. Some excellent pics there. Is that gold nugget as big as it looks?✌🏻
Yep. Fucking huge! Like 5-6 inches long — i was having the same ideas, lol
😳
I love that museum. Glad you are having a great time with your fam. Speaking of gold and museums, have you ever been to the mining museum in Squamish?
I’ve worked at that “location” many times, but never actually gone into the Museum part.
Charlie holding a Nugget. Like Father, Like Son....................@thedamus
Proud days for me buddy!
I will be in Vancouver in April and I will persuade my daughter to go to Victoria just to go to this museum. I loved it! Great pics.
The ferry ride over here is gorgeous too!
Cheers Ron!
Oh yeah, and there’s a kick-ass coin shop available for general assault!

Looks like you had a good day with the family brother. Thank you for sharing. Like the way you snuck the Silver pick up in the middle of your post👍👍
Heh, heh, i couldn’t resist 😜
