The Cook Islands were discovered by legendary British explorer Captain James Cook and the island still bear his name up till today. It is made up of 15 individual volcanic islands as well as coral atolls spread throughout an incredible 770,00 square miles of the South Pacific Ocean between Fiji and French Polynesia.

This is bullion coin but nobody know the actual mintage so there is abit of premium for this coin and it is not common to even see it selling on ebay. 2009 is the first year of the mintage for this coin and I manage to get my hand on some of these from my bullion dealer when it was out. 😊
The ship depicted on the coin is the HMS "Bounty" led by the infamous Captain William Bligh and not by Captain Cook.

Recent years are easier to get but those earlier coin are selling at a higher premium 🙃 I foresee these bullion coins might have some what of a collector value because the mintage might be quite low.
what's the value on this now? I bought the 2016 one like this, 5,000 minted... and then I also bought the really attractive 2017 one with the spiral radius design, glitzy... peace dude i'll be posting my stack next weekend, just followed you bro
I think this coin can easily fetch USD$35.00 a piece so its holding the value quite well. 😊
What's crazy is these are made by Sunshine Mint and everyone I've seen has a weak strike. But they sell for far over a generic piece. I have a couple myself but I don't think they're worth it. Now the proof one is fantastic
I agree with the weak strike but then again it's the first bullion coin for Cook Islands 🇨🇰 so there is some value to it at less it is still silver 🤣
