It is a Piece That Deals with Some of The History of The State of Arizona..................
This Silver Piece is From 1969, it is a Silver Medallion That was Minted by Medallic Art Co. of New York for The 100th Anniversary of The Powell Expedition........
John Wesley Powell is famous for the 1869 Powell Geographic Expedition, a three-month river trip down the Green and Colorado rivers, including the first official U.S. government-sponsored passage through the Grand Canyon.
Now this Silver Medallion Does Weigh a Little Less Than a Troy Ounce but it is Still Very Cool !
This Silver Medallion Shows The Silver Fineness on the Rim as You Can See in This Picture it is .999 Fine Silver.........
Also This Piece is Serialized Which Tells me and I don't Know For Sure that it Was Part of a Set of Medallions.........
