A Pile of Gold for Fiesta Tuesday
It is Fiesta Tuesday once again. This post is especially for my bestie, @silverd510, who conceptualized the #fiestatuesday tag for anyone to showcase coins from one of the oldest mints in the world, and I any silver for that matter. We just want to have fun... it is a fiesta💃🌮!!!
And now for our Fiesta Tuesday viewing pleasure....
Just look at it!!!
Nope, these are not mine. The photo and the gold belong to the same social medial stacking friend on IG, Facebook, and YouTube whose pieces I previously showed here. And a few of you know who he is!
Gold Libertads were first struck in 1 oz Gold in a Brilliant Uncirculated finish in the year 1981. There were 596,000 coins minted that first year, which is still lower than some issues of other Gold bullion coins. The design on this coin is based on the historical Centenario coin that celebrated the 100th anniversary of Mexico's independence from Spain. This design remained on the series until the release of the 2000 Gold Libertad, where the design was updated.

I think that the older Libertad design as you see above, is the better of the two. This is the later design of the gold coin:

They are both beautiful, but I can see why you think the original design is better. There seems to be much more going on in that one.
We had a rainy day too. The entire week looks like it could be pretty crappy weather. I'm just hopeful that my family and friends will be able to get here for our Thanksgiving celebration on Saturday. Winter weather tends to mess up travel plans!

My LCS a while back didn't have any Libertad's and I was on a first name basis with the manager.....
It took over one Month to get the phone call to come on down....we have your Gold!!!
