Abstract Art Market vs. Collectible Vintage Silver Market

I was watching a special on Art collectors last night. They opened up about the market in detail. Explaining how painting are valued and what influences huge money investors to buy in. A lot of information I gathered about the art market has strong cross over with the vintage silver market. I have strong believe the collectible silver market is still very early on. It has not seen the likes of elite collectors that have no limits on their spending...

The special I was watching presented some of the worlds greatest artists along with some of the well known auction houses. There is strong correlation between the highest selling art pieces and the best auction houses around the world. The top selling art pieces which sell from 1 or 2 million all the way up to 100 million. Those large sale prices come along with a provenance. Which is the historical documentation of ownership and origin. The story behind the painting! The more meaningful the provenance the more collectible the painting. I also noticed a good portion of the high end abstract paintings were dated in the 1950s. Every single painting was unique in its own way! I mean some of the pieces looked like someone just splattered paint on a canvas and called it a day. Truth be told beauty is in the eyes of the beholder!!! The famous well known artists set the record sales prices. Mintages of paintings are in a similar range of tier 1 silver bar's. Typically less than 100 minted all the way down to 1 of 1.

Time to touch on the similarities between the Art and the Vintage Silver Market. .

I found the significance of the provenance behind the Art to be very similar to the stories that lie behind some of the well known silver bar's. For example, silver that was owned by the Hunt Brothers, or early ingots produced at one of the US Mints. Even some of the ingots related to the John J Ford Jr. collection. That is the provenance behind vintage silver! I also noticed the time period of collectible art to be in the same time period of collectible silver. Both hold strong history in the 1950s! Much like the high end auction houses that put the strong price tags on collectible art. Some of the highest recorded sales of silver ingots have come out of Heritage Auctions, Stacks and Bowers, and Kagins to name a few. All of which are major players in the numismatic world.

The most interesting similarity to me is the fact that beauty and value is all in the eyes of the beholder!!

Similar to some of the ingots I have presented here on Steemit. The old poured bar's have unique charactoristics that make them all different! Take a look at this older US Mint San Francisco 25oz class ingot. This is one of the best examples I have seen of true SILVER ART!!

This is the type of silver art that I could see some of the wealthiest collectors in the world getting into. No other bar exists that is an EXACT replica of this!! Imagine what could happen to the vintage silver market if just two or three very wealthy collectors start getting into bidding wars over silver ingots that are 1 of 1 or less than 10 known. Who really knows where that could end up? I find that to be extremely fascinating!!

Here are a few art pieces that are valued in the 10s of millions. Similar to art, silver bar's can also be displayed on a wall or desk. Who wouldn't want show an item they spent millions on?

Thank you for your continued support of SteemSilverGold

Great comparison my friend and very true. That’s also why I enjoy the poured silver as well. It’s art to me, not just silver.👍

When you start seeing old poured silver as art that is when the game changes @silverd510.

The second painting is very similar to a drawing that my eight years old daughter did, twenty years ago...

Did you get it framed @ronaldoavelino??
