Hungry hungry silver hippo
Another one of my favorite coins is the superb Chad Hippopotamus from MCI's silverline collection, minted to a prooflike finish and 5,000 mintage make these coins a great addition to any stack.
They were first minted in 2015 and was followed up with a second design in 2016 but sadly there was none released in 2017 and so far no signs of any more on the horizon, proper upset there arn't any other dates and not sure what is happening with MCI mint in Germany as a few of their coins seem to have come to an end and im getting worried about the Benin Elephants future as there has been no sign of a new one in 2018 yet.
In the wild hippopotamuses are considered one of the friendliest and harmless creatures on earth and love nothing more than sharing their habitation with humans and can often be seen swimming side by side with the local population, it is believed to be good luck to run up to them from behind and suddenly rub and tickle their bellys, it is said their laughter can be heard for miles and attract zebras and gazelles being nosey and wanting to see what the commotion is. Sadly in recent years the numbers of these magnificent beasts have declined due to dentists poaching them for their teeth as there has been a spike in demand for hippo false teeth amongst the elderly in developing nations. Hippos closest friends are ducks and love nothing more than sleeping next to each other on mattresses in striped pajamas.
I had planned to get a set of these in a pl70 grade but ive only ever seen the 2015 graded and there are only 55 early release graded 70. But with it looking like the end of these coins it is unlikely that i will see a graded 2016 version. Still its a nice coin to have in my collection and was my first ever graded coin.
Thank you for your continued support of SteemSilverGold
By share habitat with humans, do you by any chance mean the most dangerous animal in Africa? lol
nah, they are only playing, they can get a bit boisterous and chompy but like i said give their bellys a tickle and it should all be fine ;)
I dig the one with the hippo open mouthed
I like this hippo coin. I'm not familiar with it. What Is the 1 oz AG (above grade silver?) I don't think any of my silver coins has AG minted on it. Thanks.
