In 2000 the RCM issued the first sterling silver hologram cameo $20 coins set.

It is the Transportation on Land, Sea and Rail series. It was issued till 2003.

This series of twelve coins commemorates Canadian achievements in transportation.

Each coin bears a 24kt gold-plated holographic cameo of famous Canadian methods of transportation. Minted in 92.5% sterling silver and weighting 1oz in Proof finish, each coin comes in a Charcoal colored anodized aluminum case with RCM logo. The issue price was CAD$59.95 each.

I will show you the three coins issued in 2001.

The freezing Canadian winters robbed power-giving heat out of a locomotive's boiler. The Scotia, built in 1861 in Hamilton, Ontario, was the first to use a steel boiler in order to reduce heat loss and generate more power. All the coins have the same obverse, the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II.

The Russell 'Light Four' Model L Touring Car was built by the Canadian Cycle & Motor Company Ltd. The Russell was the first mass-produced Canadian car with a Canadian-built engine and chassis. Specially engineered for Canadian driving conditions, the Russell quickly became Canada's first successful selling automobile.

Built in Saint John, New Brunswick in 1851 by James Smith, the Marco Polo for a time was considered to be the fastest ship in the world and named the "Queen of the Seas." The Marco Polo beat the world record run from England to Australia by a full week and reached England from Canada in 15 days on her record breaking maiden voyage.

Nice pieces bro. Thanks for sharing

Canada has amazing commemorative coins. The problem is that they issue an enormous number each year with high prices. It is impossible to have all of them, unless you are a Bill Gates.

very nice. I love the railroad coin. any train coin is good in my mind!

In a few days I will post Part 2 of this series and there is another train there. Just for you...

Really love the casing they coming bud, plus the coins look really neat, cananda has some sweet silver

These casings are sweet but they make the price of the coin skyrocket. Of course the RCM's greed is another factor in the price.

These are really cool, I like the one with the ship especially.
Your collection is always surprising me with some of the uniqueist(sp?) coins and round I have seen!
thank you for posting them, I would not see such things otherwise.

I bought all these Canadian coins on Ebay. As I am retired, I could spend hours searching good deals on Ebay to send to my daughter's home in Canada. Buying from Canadian dealers I don't have problems with Canadian Customs and I save a little on shipping. Thanks for the visit.
