# 391 - A Little Of My Past

in #steemsilvergold5 years ago (edited)

I would like to tell you something about my past.

From 1967 to 1995 I was a Bridge player. A successful one. I won several Brazilian Championships and some South American Championships, representing Brazil.

I also played the 1987 World Teams Championship and the 1984 World Teams Olympiad.

These are played by Teams-of-Six, each representing their country, but there are Pair Olympiads also, where several pairs of each country compete to the title Pair Olympiad Champion.

I will show you the round that I bought while playing at the 1994 World Pair Olympiad, held in Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA.

The obverse shows the World Bridge Federation symbol.

The reverse shows the 1994 World Pair Olympiad logo.

The only thing I know about Bridge is that it is a card game. Is it difficult to learn?

I played bridge from 17 to 46 years old and, even at my peak, I knew that I had many more things to learn...

That's a sweet token to bring back all those memories. Do you have any awards or trophies from bridge?

I have two shelves in my bookcase filled with trophies won at Bridge Championships all over Brazil and South America. I never won anything in Europe or USA, but I participated on several Championships there.

I always wanted to learn how to play bridge. Impressive Ron

I started playing at University, because Bridge was a sport at the internal olympiads. I was a chess player at that time but I gave up chess as soon as I learned the fundamentals of bridge.

Very cool story! It's fun learning about others in our group. I've never played bridge but I'll bet you're a great teacher of it.

I tried to teach Bridge, but is a very complicated game with very complicated rules and the great majority of the students give up after a little time.
