# 257 - Bald Eagle
Continuing the Modern Commemoratives Half Dollar series, we will present you today the 2008-S "Bald Eagle" graded PR70 DCAM by PCGS.
All coins of this series weight 11.34g with 91.67% copper and 8.33% nickel. They were issued in Proof and Brilliant Uncirculated finish.
They will be presented in the order they were minted.
The coin was issued as part of the Bald Eagle Commemorative Coin Program, authorized to celebrate the recovery of the Bald Eagle species and the 35th anniversary of the Endangered Species Act.
The obverse of the coin features two baby eaglets and an egg within a Bald Eagle nest.
The reverse features the Bald Eagle “Challenger” with an American flag in the background. “Challenger” is a non-releasable Bald Eagle who has been trained to free fly at major events during the National Anthem.
A total of 220,577 coins were minted in San Francisco. The issue price was U$10.95. The actual price is around U$100.00 in this grade.

You can find it easily because it is not a silver coin and the price will surely be very affordable. I am in Toronto with my daughter, looking to the snow through the windows...Remember that I live in a hot country. There is no snow there...
