# 251 - Capitol Visitor
Continuing the Modern Commemoratives Half Dollar series, we will present you today the 2001 "Capitol Visitor" graded by PCGS MS70.
All coins of this series weight 11.34g with 91.67% copper and 8.33% nickel. They were issued in Proof and Brilliant Uncirculated finish.
They will be presented in the order they were minted.
It was issued for the proposed Capitol Visitor Center.
The obverse of the coin consist of the North Wing of the original Capitol superimposed on an outline of the present building. A horse drawn carriage appears in front and a circle of stars surround.
The reverse features an arrangement of inscriptions in different fonts and a circle of 16 stars, representing the 16 states that existed in 1800.
A total of 99,157 coins were minted in Philadelphia. The issue price was U$9.75. The actual price is around U$75.00 in this grade.

I did not understand the meaning of a horse drawn carriage.
Maybe it is related to the year 1800 that appears on the reverse.

I have all the Dollar and Half Dollar Commemorative coins. Almost all are MS70 or PR70. When I don't have a PR70 I post a MS70 of the same denomination...
