# 228 - Capitol
Continuing the Modern Commemoratives Dollar series, we will present you today the 1994-S "Capitol" graded by PCGS PR70 DCAM.
All coins of this series weight 26.73g with 90% silver purity. They were issued in Proof and Brilliant Uncirculated finish.
They will be presented in the order they were minted.
This coin was issued to mark the 200th anniversary of the U.S. Capitol building in Washington DC.
The obverse of the coin features the dome of the Capitol building with stars surrounding the Statue of Freedom, which rests atop the dome.
The reverse features a motif based on the center area of a stained glass window near the grand staircases of the House and Senate. This motif includes a shield, an eagle, branches, and four flags.
A total of 279,579 coins were minted in San Francisco. The issue price was U$40.00. The actual price is around U$300.00 in this grade.
