# 212 - Another Ancient Greek Coin
This is a Corinthian Type coin.
Corinth was located in the southern coastal area of Ancient Greece. It was one of the four cities used for the ancient athletic games (Olympia was another).
Corinth derived much of its wealth and power from their control of the trade in the Mediterranean.
The Pegasus (Colts of Corinth) was a city standard from centuries.
This is an AR Stater, where AR stands for silver. It was minted in Corinth circa 400-300 BC, weights 7g and has a diameter of 22mm.
The obverse depicts Athena in helmet, with a dolphin above.
The reverse show us Pegasus preparing to fly.

All of them are different. Even when made by the same celator (pourer), they were made one by one, thus creating many variations of the "same" coin. To study them is a work of a whole life.
That is what has always drawn me in about old pours. All are unique to the methods used by the pourer. I look forward to more articles on these ancient coins. What kind of price would something like this have?
Around U$400.00. It depends of its grade and conservation.

This is amazing @ronaldoavelino! To have a coin that old in that shape is amazing. It is also interesting to think who held that coin throughout history. It probably is not a cheap one to pickup either.
I don't remember how much I paid for it, but today's price is around U$400.00.
