# 19 - Historical Names - Part 1

in #steemsilvergold6 years ago (edited)

This will be a small series of articles showing World Historical Names that were commemorated by the US Mint in its Modern Commemoratives series.

They will be presented in the chronological order they were minted.

All the coins are $1 with 90% silver and weight of 26.73g.

The first is a 1992 Columbus, issued for the quincentenary of Columbus’ discovery of the Americas. The reverse shows a split image of the Santa Maria and the Discovery space shuttle.
The second is 1998 Black Revolutionary War Patriots, issued to mark the 275th anniversary of the birth of Crispus Attucks. He was killed during the Boston Massacre in 1770. The reverse shows a detail from the proposed Black Patriots Memorial.

Those are cool! I like the first one a lot, the one with the ship / shuttle on it. Your pics look good too.

You are too kind. I hate my incapacity to take good shots, but in April I am coming back to Canada and my daughter will teach me how to do it.
