Gold used in healthcare

I love gold, I like holding and watching it as a store of wealth.

But gold is used for many more ways. Maybe the most interesting way gold is used is in medicine and healthcare.

1. Medicine for Arthritis. Slow but steady injections of sodium aurothiomalate or aurothioglucose (gold salts) are sometimes used to treat arthritis.
2. Cancer treatments by radioactive gold nanoparticles which are implanted as radiation source in chemotherapy.
3. Medical surgical equipment.
4. In pacemakers, because of it’s nonreactive and reliability.
5. In implants, because of its resistance to bacteria.
6. Bone damage
7. Dentistry. Used for fillings and crowns

Probably I forgot other usages, but these I regularly hear from.

The earliest medical use of pure gold is found in China around 2,500 BC for the treatment for smallpox, skin ulcers and furuncles or boils.
