Minnow Support Project and Discord Chat-How it can really help our #steemsilvergold and teamcanada community.

The Minnow Support Project is an amazing resource for users that want to make the most out of there time here on Steemit. We all know just how daunting and confusing it can be starting out. I feel steemit it very community driven and focused and being an active member of a community is very important around here. I think all members of #steemsilvergold and #teamcanada should sign up for Minnow Support Project (MSP) and Discord and here is why.

I am going to post their problem, mission and vision statement here, I'm not sure if I'm going to get "cheetah"d but I apologize in advance. I don't want to reinvent the wheel and do then any disservice by trying to summarize what they are all about.

Problem Statement
The learning curve on Steemit is remarkably difficult. Many people (especially minnows) will spend hours crafting very thoughtful content and find it receives very few views, very few upvotes, and very little reward. This heartbreaking experience can last for months where the user feels powerless, frustrated, envious, and confused. It appears that Steemit only favors wealth creation for a handful of people and not for the everyone that steps foot on the platform.

Vision Statement
The challenges on Steemit are best met through a community who seeks to help one another succeed on the platform through education, personal connection, leadership, and community curation. By carefully structuring a community people can find the help they need to write better articles, to reach a wider audience, connect with others, and grow their wealth and influence on Steemit.

Mission Statement
The Minnow Support Project is the number one community on Steemit to incorporate training, support, and curation in order to facilitate life cycle growth on the platform from Minnowhood to Whalehood and to continue paying it forward as new members join. The Discord channel is not a business, but instead a completely voluntary public service brought to you by elected Witnesses.

Plan
The Minnow Support Project is part education, community, and curation:

Education: Through a series of educational seminars, content review, training, and individual consultation the Minnow Support Project will support a highly structured curriculum to transition new passionate authors into successful bloggers capable of writing content that catches views, upvotes, resteems, and followers.

Community: It's essential for success that people develop a supporting community. The first goal is friendship and connection with other humans. As that develops projects, plans, companies, visions, and changes to the world can be enacted. Minnow Support Project will provide a friendly community to embrace new members as they make their way on the platform.

Curation: The Minnow Support Project utilizes tiered cyborg curation to facilitate non-spammy, non-shitpost, high quality, semi-manual, community curation. In effect we utilize a series of community bots to facilitate curation. Members can freely use the lowest tier bot to upvote their content. The bot is upvoted by community members using steemvoter to grow the community bot steempower, and the bot vote is followed by the community using streemian to allow the poster to get support from the community. There are timers on the lowest tier bot that force limited community upvotes from one account in a given period of time so that users aren't incentivized to upvote shit content. Additionally, the votes are made through publicly displaying the upvoted content insuring that people that do upvote their own shitpost will be quickly smacked down by the community.

As you can see it is an amazing community and they have personally been very helpful to me, when I have any questions about steemit, someone on the chat is very eager to help. The community there is very altruistic and generous.

It can be a great way for our community members to grow and learn and then continue to support each other with their new found knowledge and success. I certainly credit many of my new friends there for my success and appreciation and love for the steemit platform.

I want to also discuss Discord chat a bit better too. I know @goldenarms has been asking about Discord chat and it's a great place where lots of steemit users meet and chat in real time with each other. It a chat platform that was originally designed for online gamers but the amazing team at PALnet and MSP have really made it work amazing for steemit users and steemit communities.

Here is how the user interface looks. You can add friends and individual users on the top left to have direct chats with each other. Down the left side is a a list of channels you are members of. Within the channels to the right is a list of different chatrooms inside the channel. I have spoke with the admins there and if/when we get enough members on the main chat they can make us our own #steemsilvergold or #teamcanada chatroom. These room are open so anyone who is interested can pop in and ask us what we are all about and join and support our communities. Of course discord and MSP are also the gateway to many of the vote bot initiative if you wanted to get involved with them. Usually you delegate some steem power to the bots in exchange for ongoing upvotes. They are great community driven initiates that really support the growth of all members.
