in #steemsilvergold6 years ago

There is an old English rhyme which goes "Something old, something new, Something borrowed, something blue, And a sixpence for her shoe." Here is such a coin . This decent condition coin comes from early twentieth century England . On January 1st 1902 Nathan Stubblefield makes the first public demonstration of radio in Pennsylvania, USA . Mount Pelée erupts, wipes out Saint Pierre , Martinique, kills 30,000 people on May 8th 1902 . November 15th a meteorite falls to earth , landing in Sharpsburg, Kentucky, USA . The largest piece found weighed in at 181 pounds . Today's coin was minted at The Royal Mint in London England with 6,367,377 others . It was minted of .925 % silver , is 19 mm in diameter , and weighs in at 2.83 grams .
The obverse features King Edward VII facing right with the legend EDWARDVS VII D:G: BRITT:OMN:REX F:D: IND: IMP: (Edward VII by the Grace of God, King of all the British territories, Defender of the Faith, Emperor of India)

The reverse of today's coin features the words 'SIX PENCE' with the royal crown above, and a small scroll below. A wreath with a bow surrounds the main design, with the date (1902) underneath .

Sweet looking coin.👍🏻

It is for sure Mr V !!!!!

Thank you for your continued support of SteemSilverGold

If and should I ever marry, then I will need to have one of those sixpence coins, LOL! Something old represents continuity; something new offers optimism for the future; something borrowed symbolizes borrowed happiness; something blue stands for purity, love, and fidelity; and a sixpence in your shoe is a wish for good fortune and prosperity, although this remains largely a British custom, there will be no harm putting one in my shoe!

Make sure its in the arch so it doesn't cause a limp !!!! LOL

Hahaha, so I am imagining myself limping to the altar, LOL!!!

Very fine looking six pence! Thanks for sharing Mike!!

I think so for a 116 year old coin !!!!!

Exactly like yesterday's little sister (3 pence).

Almost !!!!!!

That’s a honey of an O!

Thank you for stopping by Mr D !!!!!

King Ed sure didn't stay King very long with only a few years worth of coins, wonder how history would be much different if he lasted longer.
