A Look at a Sydney Proof Silver Coin

in #steemsilvergold6 years ago

A look at another coin from my collection that I never let go...these are really pretty coins. I almost bought the complete set years back but did not in the end. funny how these older coins seem less prone to toning or milk spots, this coin was minted approx 20 years ago and is flawless.

There seems to be a favourite to put animals on a coin at the moment, but just for an interesting point, Ireland originally where going to put religious items on there coins in the early 20th century but decided against it as people would have made them into jewellery and instead plumped for animals, like the dog on a 6d th.jpg

Nice. I've stopped buying proofs myself. Literally everything modern seems to attract milk spots and destroys any value over spot.

Same here, or well i dont buy at all now but if i did it would not be proof (apart from older ones like this that have stood the test of time)

Premiums on silver are too high where I live due to taxation. Gold is zero tax and low premium and no spots except an occasional red spot.

Im in the uk so unless importing from europe VAT is a killer, if i was to invest new money in PM it would certainly be gold.
