Smokey mess

Hey Steemies!!

I looked outside the window this morning and everything was dark and yellow, even when the sun was supposed to be bright and shinning, street lamps were still on, almost a scene strait out of an apocalyptic movie. I stepped outside just to see the phenomenon because I can't say I have ever witnessed this, I immediately started to choke, it was worse than welding without a respirator! The air hurts the eyes and just to breath is getting pretty hard. @silvergingerman has been resting all day because it is causing him a severe headache for several days but really intensified today, maybe I can coax him out with my home made fajitas!! (He's a man it works😁) What is causing this??

Wildfire season. There are currently near 500 wildfires burning in British Columbia and the smoke is getting carried to Edmonton. It has been really bad for at least a week now and well for the most part everything outside is closed. The air quality advisory is an 8 out of 10 all the way to 10 + currently, at times we can't even see across the street the smoke gets so thick. The province of British-Columbia has declared a state of emergency as thousands are forced out of their homes thousand others on evacuation notice. Thousands firefighters and emergency personnel are already fighting to control the burning and thousands others from across Canada are headed to join them in the fight. My heart goes out to the residents of British-Columbia and western United States currently living in this uncertainty or losing their homes and every possession or physical family memories they have ever cherished (family photos etc...) Thank you to all emergency personnel and volunteers working day and night and sacrificing their lives to try to put an end this inferno. Much love to y'all 💗💗💗 and Western Canada is deeply grateful for you and your service.

From the $50 for $50 RCM series issued by the Royal Canadian Mint, struck in 1/2 ounce fine silver. To be honest, I'm not really sure how I got this weird purple color on the coins because the wall behind me is construction orange but I like it!

If you are Canadian, you are well aware of the carbon tax (we get a double whammy in Alberta because we also have a Provincial carbon tax) Yes the people of the world of Steemit, our government taxes air as absurd as it sounds. Where I was going with this is Justin Trudeau is probably scratching his head wondering how to calculate the tax on wildfire carbon in the air on it's citizens. Yes tasteless joke but I wouldn't put it passed him. Everything is taxed way too much here! luckily, Alberta is one of the only provinces that doesn't have sales tax or income tax. We have a somewhat ok universal healthcare system so even the poorest can get care when they need, it's a good trade off in a sense but still we all know how much of it gets wasted by government stupidity much like the USA. Amazingly, one thing isn't taxed here...Hum what is it you ask?? PRECIOUS METALS !! Back up the truck before Trud-no starts taxing that too!

Precious metals have been getting hammered like cryptos, it's almost depressing...or is it? It sucks in the short term yes but think long term, buy or blog now be rich later...well not really but at least better off. Fill your boots while it's at fire sale! In the meantime, it will continue to weed out the weak and those looking for instant gratification and more for us all in the end. Both PM's and Steem are more like alternate savings for me and I don't really care what their current worth is, it's more for when everyone gets sick of fiat and throws it in the BC fires cause it's worthless. In the meantime keep the printing press rolling out of control cause I aint done buyin this tax free shinny stuff and neither should you!! If you haven't started yet or have been putting it off until later...maybe now is your chance before it's too late! No you can't eat it but it doesn't hurt to have a backup plan in case(more like when) the economy goes belly-up.

My new Addition isn't so much the stackable kind, more so the wearable kind! During my travels to the Rockies, I got my hands on our Provincial gem. What is KORITE? It is one of the finest gold and silver jewelry craftsmen that specialize in Amolite gems. Amolite is the only fossil that is considered a gemstone and also the rarest gem on the planet being only found in gem quality in Lethbridge Alberta. If you know your fossils, then you are aware Amolite is derived from Amonites, an ancient squid-like prehistoric creature that lived in a shell. Gem quality ranging from standard , A , AA and it's finest AAA is graded based one the iridescence and the amount of colors into the gem. The Inukshuk (they say pagoda, but I think it resembles more a Canadian Inukshuk) is A grade and the other I got as a gift with my purchase is of the more affordable standard grade set in 925 sterling silver. Once you go into AAA grade, it is as costly as a flawless diamond and runs into 10-20 thousand dollars. This sought after gem as been substantially increasing in price as it captures the hearts of many foreign visitors because it is reminiscent of our northern lights captured in a gem. The Amolite gem is then encased in a Quartz shell to preserve it's fragile beauty having a hardness of only 3.5 to 4 on the Mohs hardness scale, Diamonds are a 10 , Sapphires are a 9 for comparison if you are not familiar with mineral hardness.

I can't take too many great pictures in this smokey mess, the poor lighting really messes with the camera's mojo and high amounts of light is required for coin and precious metal photography. Stackitis is flaring up and work should begin in the next few weeks and I am anticipating another blowout soon to appease the symptoms! For now, I can only dream of it. I will leave with a link to KORITE's web page of timeless designs in case you want some more eye candy! Until next time, stay safe and be responsible, put out your camping fires before leaving them untended do your part in reducing the number of wildfires caused by humans. I have a small family bbq coming up this weekend to celebrate the success of my favorite Auntie's long awaited brain surgery last week, hopefully the smoke can simmer down by then to keep thing more enjoyable for the event.

Cheers! X🐞X

Another excellent multi-subjects article. From wildfires to amolite gems, from wonderful purple coins to a breathing tax, a very well written and fun post. I can't wait your next.

lol, Yes, all over the place like the inside of my brain! It is a collection randomness!! Thanks for reading :)

Amolite gems are really cool. And the fossils can still be found by the lay-person, or so I'm told, in AB and SK valleys. Would be a really good if you came across one! a big one was found near where I grew up not that long ago, and was sold for a bunch!

You can go find them yes but you need permits and there is a whole buch of rules on it, they have to be approved by a local museum to be sold or taken out of province because of it's rarity. The big ones are really cool and they do go for a lot of money now, seems like the prices jump everywhere. I kinda hate myself for not buying some sooner when it was 1/4 of the price it is now.
