Colorful big coin, the Canadiana Kaleidoscope Polar Bear!

Today, I would like to show a colorful coin, which is part of a 3-coin set.

The 2016 Canadiana Kaleidoscope Polar Bear coin!!

This coin series is unique in the sense that it is a 1oz coin that is 60mm across! This is the Royal Canadian Mint's thinnest 1oz coin ever. The coin's design was inspired by the kaleidoscope, which is a toy made with tumbling shapes into beautiful patterns inside a mirrored tube.

This coin is designed by Canadian artist Calder Moore. The polar bears come together in a complex pattern, some face-to-face to create the outer ring of the design, while smaller bears stand back-to-back to form the rings in the centre. At the extreme edge of the coin, the image of the polar bears become more obvious while individual design features endless shapes.

The coin set comes in a specially designed box. Each drawer has its own coin. Limited mintage of 7,500 coins. I will show the others next time! I hope you enjoyed this post!
