[Last time...]

“Ance ashair, light a bon fire an' pit some cedar bows oan it fur reek. 'Att will signal yer arrival tae th' Beothuk."
“Th’ Beothuk Sairrr?” Ickied asked.
“Aye. They’s a friendly Indian tribe tae th' French. They'll see tae it 'att these rogues ur returned tae th' French garrison at Fort Plaisance ta th’ sooth. Ye will takes sufficient arms tae ensure yer safety an' ten poonds of stoaner tack fur th' Indians. Ahh think they will be agreeable."

Ickied’s heart relaxed and a he felt like the weight of the world had been lifted off his shoulders. Now he finally understood the strange and mysterious event of the night before in the Captain’s great cabin. He smiled openly and saluted…

“Aye, aye Sairrr!”

[On the Silverton...half mile north of Belle Island...]

With the longboats ready and well stocked with weapons, Junior Petty Officer - Carpenter's Mate Ickied began calling out the names of his chosen crew…

Separating into the two groups, the eight men and the four prisoners slowly climbed down the ratlines to the two longboats, the four French prisoners who remained shackled, went first under close scrutiny.

The Captain came down to the main deck and stood by the portside rail as the French Captain Filippe Bouchard stared up at him with a contemptuous look. Ignoring him, the Captain gave his last orders…

“Mind yerself an' yer crew Ickied! Th' Beothuk Indians may noot be trusted onie mair than these Franks!"

“Aye Sairrr!”
“Gawd’s speed!”

With that, the mooring lines were released and the two longboats headed for the northwest shore of Belle Island.

The Jinn stood with Amal next to the nearly finished war Dhow on the western beach of the village. She looked at him with sad eyes as he spoke…

“This is the last task my Dear…” he said as he ran his hand along the side of the small ship, “Your people have built a fine vessel, but now I must obtain the final pieces.”
Jinn-2.jpg
“My Lord…it is dangerous to visit the town of Nungwi. The French have a fort there and many soldiers…” Amal warned with deep concern.
“It is the only choice. I need to purchase seven cannon, six twelve pounders at least. There are no others on Zanzibar who possess such weapons.” The Jinn said as he grabbed a hold of the heavy strands of gold chains about his neck, the last of his fortunes, “Your brother will accompany me. I have no quarrel with the French Legionnaires, we will be safe.”
“But will they not just take you prisoner and steal your gold?!”
“Ha-ha! I am not that naïve Amal. I will be very careful.”

Gazing up into his eyes, she then buried her face in his chest as emotion overtook her.

“Come back safe my Lord!”
“I will…I will come back safe. God is on my side now!”
