My collection of silver and gold coins: Marengo italiano (The gold one)
I am very fond of this coin, I received it many years ago as a gift for my communion and it was my first collector's coin... my number one;)
The Marengo was born as a gold coin with a nominal value of 20 francs initially coined by the mint of the Subalpine Republic to celebrate Napoleon's victory over the Austrians on June 14th 1800 in Marengo.

I think that through some objects we can live a "piece" of history, from a strange sensation hold a coin in your hand that has more than 137 years... I wonder how many people owned it before it came to me.
That's something which I think about too whenever I hold old coins. Who else could have held this coin in their hands? Maybe my great great great grandfather? Maybe even Napoleon? No one will ever know :) But it's fascinating.
it's something amazing if you think about it, these objects are still here while those who owned them are gone. History has a great charm.

It's a lira. But to create this type of model they referred to the value of the franc.
