On 20 December 2013, Bank Negara Malaysia issued a commemorative coin in conjunction with the 80th Malaysia Armed Forces Anniversary. The launch of the Memorial Coin in conjunction with the 80th ATM Day was officiated by Commander of the Armed Forces, General Tan Sri Dato 'Sri (Dr.) Zulkifeli bin Mohd Zin at Wisma Pertahanan, Kuala Lumpur.

The existence of the Malaysian Armed Forces began with the formation of the Malay Regiment on March 1, 1933, later known as the Malaysian Armed Forces following the formation of Malaysia on September 16, 1963. The Malaysian Armed Forces had grown over the past eight decades from a military force to the Complete Armed Forces and Sophisticated (Full Spectrum Force).

The front of the commemorative coin design features all three parts of the Malaysian Armed Forces, the jet fighter to represent the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF), tanks to represent the Malaysian Army (TDM), and submarines to represent the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN). The word "ULANG TAHUN KE-80 ANGKATAN TENTERA MALAYSIA" is displayed on the top of the coin while the "1933-2013" year which shows the period of 80 years the existence of the Malaysian Armed Forces is shown on the bottom of the design of the coin.

The Back Part of the Commemorative Coin displays the logo of the Malaysian Armed Forces. The word "BANK NEGARA MALAYSIA" as the issuing authority of this commemorative coin appears at the top of the coin while the coin face value is on the bottom of the design of the coin.

The commemorative coins are minted and packed by Bank Negara Malaysia and sold on December 23, 2013 at Bank Negara Malaysia Museums and Art Galleries at Sasana Kijang, Kuala Lumpur and regional offices in Penang and Johor Bahru and branches in Kuala Terengganu, Kota Kinabalu and Kuching.

I'm starting to appreciate the work from the Malaysia. Ultra-low mintage, should appreciate in value, plus the value of the Malaysia RM against the UDS, a great price.
