The CC are the most famous Morgan dollars because of their mintages and because of the Old West aura.
They are the most famous. I have known about them for years and years; however, this is the first chance that I've had to pick up a Carson City coin. I like the 'Old West aura' and the 'Comstock Lode' aura.
If I were a Betting Man, I'd say the Silver in your 1882 CC Morgan Dollar came from the Famous Comstock Load in Nevada...
I bet you are correct. It must have come from the famous Comstock lode in Nevada.
I will admit that the history behind the Comstock lode and holding a coin likely from that silver is fantastic. It is holding silver from the most famous lode of silver ore in American history.
Your Morgan Dollar also fits in perfectly with my Reset Theory... It's worth about a Hundred Federal Reserve Note Dollars... Naturally, you also have the Collector and Historic Value, that will always be attached...
