I agree! People who say "$500 silver!" are missing the big picture. If silver goes to $500 it will mean runaway inflation has kicked in. They are valuing things in Wiemar Republic or Zimbabwe dollars, as it were. If silver is valued at $500, there will be no silver trading at that price. People will silver will know it is foolish to trade their real commodity for increasingly worthless cash.

Now then, what do I really think? I think we are all screwed. Technology is going to make "rarity" a non-issue. Eventually we will mine asteroids and have access to all the "precious" resources we can use. Ever heard of the SAFIRE Project? Those gentlemen are creating elements. They made a laboratory model of the sun, and when they were running their experiments atoms of elements formed on their anode, including gold. Even if we never leave earth, we may be on the brink of real "alchemy."
All that said, then why do I stack? Because for all the amazing potential of humanity, we are also REALLY good at doing ignorant shit that brings us back to stone age, or medieval, or third world living conditions. It is a crap shoot, which will REALLY happen? Mankind elevated to new heights of intelligence, technology and improved living standards for all? Or SHTF and some variant of "Mad Max?" I work for one, I prepare for the other.
