What's in the box? Day 2 Defence Medal.
Welcome to day 2 of "What's in the box?" Tonight we'll look at the Defence Medal and a few random photographs.
This piece was struck in cupro-nickle except in Canada it was made of 80% silver and 20% copper, just like our coins of the time.
This one has some heavy dark toning and some fingerprints, I'm not going to clean it. For more information on this medal and who was eligable to receive it click here
Here are some random photos from the box that have no description on them.
This one looks like an early combine with some snow on it and the photographer's shadow is in the shot too.
The left tailight is busted, there is a dent in the fender and the bumper is twisted. Probally though the people were the subject here.
This man does look familiar to me actually, I think he was a friend of my grandpa's.
She looks like a proud mama.
hiya that medal is brilliant, and all these photos are great, i love the one with the car and the lady and young lad stood in front of it, the lady shows such strength of character, and wisdom, a wonderful picture! i also love the last picture, evokes an immediately recognisable emotion of motherhood, excellent stuff, thank you for sharing i have been enjoyung your adventure in time travelling, have an excellent day, much respect to you

That tow-behind combine is pretty cool. I like the quad wheels on the tractor too. I've only seen those on an 8N that someone V8 swapped. Maybe they were more common back in the day.
