#piratesunday Captain K's First Mate D Back in Time for @dixiesilverminer

#piratesunday is upon us my buccaneer friends, and that means another tale from the deck of Captain D's ship the Silver Wings! As we have seen in our previous post "Captain K and the Dragon Master: (https://steemit.com/steemsilvergold/@dwingsworld/piratesunday-captain-k-and-the-dragon-master-dixiesilverminer-entry ), and as Queen Savore told our crew the Lost Sea has a different way of dealing with time. This event occurs at the moment of reveal and meeting of with Circe and Lady Ravenhill and during the same time as Captain K's observation of his past. Another lesson being learned and another story from many moons in the past is being seen by Captain K's First Mate D.

Standing ready for their interaction with Lady Ravenhill, suddenly all went black for First Mate D. Yelling out into the abyss there was nothing but an echo to answer his calls. Instantly, as he turned his head to look around he found himself standing in a dark cave with a fire burning near the entrance and a soft womans voice called to him. First Mate D, I am Athena, Goddess of Wisdom with a message that you will need on your quest. Goddess D yelled out "Where am I and what am I to do?" Athena softly whispered back "You will know where you are and just watch my heroic pirate." As her voice faded, D saw a woman that he would never forget. Her name was Eve and she was a think woman with short brown hair on a face a soft and gentle as a pillows caress. She stood about 5'8" and had a personality and strength that most men around her could not compare to. From outside the cave D heard his voice yelling to Eve, but it was not his. It belonged to a man not of the sea, but of the land. A man that was lost in love and lived for the family that was to come. You see Eve was D's fiancee and there was not a treasure in the world that could ever be close to her in his eyes. Upon seeing his younger self embrace Eve, D looked to the ground and closed his eyes. Saying outloud "Athena what wisdom can this bring? Why would you bring me here?" His calls remained unanswered and D realized he must watch as the Goddess commanded.

D’s homeland was filled with different terrain and resources from the snowy north home of the snow beast, the lush forest and jungles of the south filled with spirits that could be friend or foe, the west guarded by mountains full of beast, and the east with fertile lands and access to the sea. Moon Wraths often traveled the lands, but were often avoided by being in at night fall. D watched as the day proceeded as normal with him working the land, while Eve stayed near the dwelling gathering food and making a meal.

This day would be different though and D knew as he watched the events that changed the course of his life. While plowing one of his fields, he notice a small shiny object pulled from the dirt. Leaning over the object, D slowly reached for it no knowing exactly what to make of it. As he raised it from the soil what appeared to be water fell to the dry dust below it. Looking closely at the item it was a small silver representation of a dog standing at attention. Not knowing what he had found, D placed it in a pouch to be worried about at another time. He finished out the day plowing and sowing his fields before returning to his home. D was met at the door by Eve and a fantastic meal which they shared. During dinner D reveal the item, and they were soon discussing what to do with it. Neither knew what it was, but both figured it would be worth something at the market. They took to resting for the night and then taking the item to trade in the morning. As First Mate D watched he could only wish they had thrown the trinket back into the hard dust from which it was unearthed.

D and Eve retired for the evening and placed the silver dog in a secret compartment in the cave wall. After several hours of sleep, D was awakened by Eve struggling next to him. Springing from the bed he could not believe what he saw. It looked as though Eve was covered in water to her neck and being held in the air. The water began to morph and soon was the form of a large man with gills under his eyes and scales all over his body. He continued to restrain Eve while a large conch shell hung from his shoulder. The figure looked at D and in a voice that shook the cave stated “You have property of my father Poseidon and I, Trident, am here to reclaim it in his name.” Shaking D yelled “we have nothing of yours demon release her or pay!” Laughing the figure began to turn itself and Eve into water and as they morphed and slide through the cracks in the walls a fate voice of Trident could be heard saying “bring the figure to the beach by dawns light.”

Panic and fear filled D as he watched his love be taken, and then the realization that he did not know how to fight a god. Opening the compartment in the cave wall, he grabbed the weapons, armor, and shield of his father. They were worn and weathered from much battle; from a time when his homeland was in turmoil. D remember a tale his father used to tell about how his shield was once blessed by Athena to be able to take any blow from any weapon Ares could ever produce. As a child he would stare in wonder at the battered bronze and silver object, but as he grew he dismissed it as just a tale that a father tells to raise his feats during war. D donned the armor and weapons that seemed to take on a new life and feel. D quickly secured the shield and a leather pouch with the relic to his back and set off for the beach.
