#piratesunday Captain K and the Cerridwen Skull

Arrrrr me #Piratesunday swashbucklers; Welcome to D Wings World and a very special #piratesunday post! Today is Father’s Day and we here aboard the Silver Wing would like to say Thank You to all the Pirate Dads out there! Sure you were hard on us, sure you made us swab the deck, sure you wouldn’t let us invade an enemy ship until we were 14, but we know you did it out of love and couldn’t thank you enough. Us salty dogs would not be what we are today without the great advice and leadership of our fantastic pirate fathers and the true captains we look up to. So it’s with that we say Thank You!!

Arrr, enough with the sentiments and no I’m not crying simply some sea sand hitting my face. Now back to where we last left our heroic Captain K, his first mate D, and brave Sir Bentley! Silver Fairy Queen Savore had lead the band of crusaders to a large door shaped like a leaf upon the cavern wall.

Waving her hand the door open and they were instantly in a large wooded area. The Queen pointed upward toward the sky, which was completely filled with fairies zooming through the air. After a quick look around to get the lay of the land the men said their goodbyes to the Queen and promised to return victorious. They then began setting up an outpost at the western edge of the fairy city, where they had a better tactical advantage.

As night fell and darkness engulfed the land it was several hours before even a sound occurred. Sir Bentley was the first
to notice a dark figure in a large tree stalking the city. The dark figure had no clear features and was darker than the night sky. Its silhouette showed a long snout and elongated claws; it was standing as a man does leaning toward the city as though it was ready to strike. D instantly knew what this fiend was. Looking at his friends he said “It’s a moon wraith, they feed on light and anything that glimmers will be snuffed out by its darkness. They have plagued my homeland for generations.’ Captain K stated simply ‘so that’s what it is. How do we defeat it?” Thinking back to his childhood D began to remember out loud that “a powerful enough light will break apart the shadow, but I have only seen this once and it did not work out so well for those involved.” The travelers decided to each take a torch and attempt to surround the figure.

Climbing up above the forest floor Sir Bentley was the first to charge the beast forcing it to move in the direction of both Captain K’s and D’s torches. The wraith charged at Captain K and D, but the men held fast not wavering. As the wraith reached the torches he swung his massive claws knocking Captain K onto the branch below and forcing D to freefall into the air. Jumping down the wraith positioned himself under D and opened up a cloak it was wearing. Leaping into the air it then wrapped the cloak around D as a boa constrictor wraps it prey. Struggling within the cloak, D found himself stuck as a thick black ooze began to seep over him. Sir Bentley and Captain K thrust their torches toward the creature than now seemed more angry than afraid. While engaged in his battle Captain K yell to the fairies to concentrate all their light behind the shadow. Still fighting to be released inside the beast, D could feel the ooze tightening around him as it started to reach his neck, where the tooth from the Silver Skull of Destiny hung. As the ooze tried to expand over the tooth it began to pulse and glow with a light brighter than the whitest snow. The moon wraith started to emit a high pitch wail as the fairies light intensified and the men’s’ torches continued to strike it repeatedly. Weakened by the external assault the wraith was final put to his doom as D’s tooth pendant erupted in a massive explosion of light instantly peeling back the ooze from D’s body. Seemingly, the wraith body began to flake and peek as bark does off of a dead tree before breaking down into particles of black smoke. Captain K and Sir Bentley looking to the forest floor asked D “if he was alright.” Staring at his friends with a blank expression the pirate simply smiles and responded “yea but the next time someone else gets eaten!”

The Silver Fairies guided the beat up trio back through an old tree to the heart of the Queens palace. Smiling with joy the fairy Queen commended the men on their victory and said “so the deal must be done.” Pulling the Cerridwen Skull from her pouch, the Queen declared “this skull holds power over inspiration and rejuvenation.

I will utilize it to repair your ship and to heal your men; with that the eyes of the skull began to glow and all of them were transported to the Dragon Fire. Captain K elated thanked the Queen for her kindness to which she replied that she was grateful for the pirates’ bravery. She then shared the knowledge that no mortal had ever known. If the 4 relics hidden in the lost sea were to be united they will show the location of all parts of the Silver Skull of Destiny. The Queen said she could give a course for the next relic but the three other holders much bee convinced to meet with her to show the locations.
