Arrr my Steemian Pirate friends and welcome to a very special pre #piratesunday post concerning The fabled lost Mene Galleon! For more information on Mene please check out @goldmatters and to see more about his amazing pumpkin carving contest take a look Here. Now onto our tale of a amazing Spanish Galleon filled to the brim with treasured beyond belief. The crew had been working non-stop for months to collect as much gold, silver, and precious stones as possible. You see Spain was in an important war and need much more money to fund its many advances and strategies. In the rush to fulfill this need some very important details were over looked. The ship had stayed far too long loading itself down with its precious cargo and ignored that it was now leaving in the most dangerous time of the year. It was mid October when hurricanes and magical creatures were at their most powerful!!
Leaving the safety of its dock the ship sent out full speed trying to reach Spain as quick as it could without crossing the path of bad weather or dangers of the deep. Sadly, four days into the journey the hope of safe travel was completely lost as the ship was caught in a vicious hurricane. The galleon was literally thrown from wave to wave and the rain pounded the deck like a hammer hitting an anvil. Hours into this storm the sailors aboard could hear voices calling to them. Singing songs of safe harbor and clear skys the men started to steer the ship west toward these calls. Through the hard rain, thunder, and lightning they could see a mount with a long shore. On that shore they could see figures of what appeared to be woman calling to them. Pushing the galleon to its breaking point, it was too late when they realized that they were heading right for a large reef. The men screamed as the ship slammed against the rocks and the winds of the storm peeled away their ship like the peel of an orange. The mermaids that had watched and called from the rocks took advantage of this loss and scavenged the floor of the sea for all the riches and survivors that they could find. No men survived that dark night and no treasure was recovered.
Now this tale takes a dark turn as it is said that on one night of the year the Mene Galleon can be seen leading men to their ruin upon the rocks. However, if you are wise and plan there is another part of the legend. If you become patient, strong, and plan for the future then you may be the one to recieve the Mene treasure.
So if your sails are with the wind and you come upon this symbol know that you must be wise and you will be rewarded!!
