#219 - Disproportionate Value Of Copper And Nickel
I find it very funny that you can purchase Nickel round stock or bar stock for around $8.00 lbs. But if you want one ounce of Nickel with a strike on it it cost $10.00 per ounce. So that’s $160.00 for 1 lbs of Nickel rounds on a $8.00 investment. Not bad! All I need now is a design and equipment and I will be rich! However I believe the high price of these rounds is due to the market. Copper and Nickel rounds carry a heavy premium on them due to sale values being so low.
Copper sells for around $5.00 lbs or $5.00 for 1 ounce with an image struck on it. So that’s $80.00 lbs. Decent mark up.
Silver is traded currently right now for $17.26 and sold polished, stamped, certified, packaged and insured for $20 + per ounce. Seems like the mark up on Silver is not as good as Nickel or Copper? Lol. But I guess there is a lot more sold and exchanged daily than the metals.
Let me know what you think.
Interesting perspective If it cant be exchanged for food then it isnt worth much to me ;-)
Well it has value it just doesn’t move up in value till there is a war. Nickel is the main metal in the construction of tank armor.
