I Cracked
I have only been collecting silver (bars, coins and rounds) for one year.
It started with a Santa, then quickly progressed to a koala, then ALL of the Koalas.
Before you know it, I was hooked.
In those early days, it seemed there were some basics that I should add to my collection. The type of stuff any silver collector would have. I quickly added, one maple, one kangaroo, a britannia,a philharmonic, a panda, a libertad and an ASE to my stack. I didn’t feel the need to have multiples of these, but wanted one of each for sure.
My collection leans heavily towards coin series and one off funky rounds. Throw in some art bars and anything Christmas and you can picture my stack. What I don’t have.... plain/serialized bars.
Until Today
I am not really drawn to the plain bars. Things like SilverTowne, Sunshine Mint, Johnson Matthey don’t usually trigger the itch of stackitus for me. However, it seems like having one of each would be good for the stack. To that end, a visit to my LCS yesterday paid off....
In Engelhards
I went to my LCS yesterday after hearing from @plaid that the generic bin was full of new treasures. By the time I arrived, only milk spotted maples remained. 😭😭😭 However, eight Engelhards were sitting in a tray to the side. I decided to buy one. It felt like a well rounded stack would include an Engelhard.
Well, @summertooth just happened to message as I completed my purchase. I told him I was bummed about the lack of funky rounds but I had bought one thing, an Engelhard. He seemed excited.
So... despite being lazy I went back in! And bought two more bars. 😄🤣
For today I am three Engelhard’s richer.☺️ One will leave me for it’s new home in Oregon before the week’s end. The other.... it will find a new home eventually too. ☺️
Keep on Stacking!

Good call, probably should have grabbed all 8 They are big with collectors right now and can be sold for good $$ My lcs was just talking about them on my last visit. Only once did I ever find one in the bargain bin in my few years stacking. If you didn't find a home for your 3rd one yet, maybe next time I go I can find some other art bar that you might like to trade for at some point.
or one of the pandas from NIUE if you don't have one and like it. I think it may have been a silver gold bull exclusive coin.
Oh dang. The third was bought with a purpose in mind, it if I find another I will definitely grab one for you. I have seen them at the shop before so I am sure another will float through again.
no worries :) I could run into one at the LCS.
Boing!!! Hoard those Engelhards @dfinney! Every single one of ‘em is already a rare beast!
And cool that you could wheel and deal with @summertooth via chit-chat — that rules 🤩
Always wheeling and dealing. 😂🤣
Sorry you didn't get some of those unique rounds! They had a ton when I left Friday afternoon! Oh well, at least you didn't leave empty handed... 😉
I should have left the work party earlier Friday and said to hell with the wind! 😂🤣
CONGRATS.... those are wonderful bars to stack... they somehow always appreciate, despite being plain and generic. You cannot go wrong with JM, Englehard, Geiger... great mints and reliable. Yaaay... three bars richer!!! I love it!!!! Stackers get richer each time fiat is converted to real value! I loved this article, @difinney... you just inspired me to keep on going! Thank you, my sweet friend!!!😘
Geiger... I really like those. Maybe because they look all euro and have that fun square shape. ☺️
Awesome score Dfinney,Engelhard bars are the best.👊🏻👊🏻👊🏻
That is what people keep saying. 😄😉
Very nice. A fine addition to any stack.
☺️ Thanks @methus!
Collectors go nuts for the Engelhards. I am trying to do something very similar by trying to get one everything! Haha!
One of everything... me too!!! 😂🤣😂 We are in big trouble.
