Charmed by Silver
In December I started collecting 1oz silver rounds. They are awfully pretty, but let’s save that for another day... ☺️
The silver bits nearest and dearest to my heart are sterling silver charms.
Shortly after my birth my aunt/godmother gave me a charm bracelet. The bracelet had one single charm, a 4 leaf clover with a ruby (my birthstone) at the center.
40(ish) years later the bracelet holds 150 charms from across the world.
Typically I purchase charms on vacation. I like to find pieces that remind me of the places I have visited. I also have a few to honor important life events.
Some of my favorites have movable parts.
This windmill charm is from Amsterdam. The blades spin!
Here’s a beer stein straight from Munich. The top opens and can even hold a few drops of Germany’s finest brews.
Next is this “charming” hula girl. The torso, legs and skirt are actually three separate pieces connected under the skirt. It allows for quite the hip wiggle when she starts to dance.
In terms of an investment, charms are over priced. They are tiny and prices range anywhere from $12 - $50 per charm.
But each one reminds me of an adventure, a beautiful place and the people who were with me on the journey. That in the end is priceless.
Thank you for checking out my collection.
What sort of items do you collect?
I would love to hear in the comments. 😍
Charms are great! They are a great investment too as the secondary market is usually higher than when purchased new. This is usually due to the fact that a lot are not around to be purchased anymore.
Yeah, I guess I could see this for the fancier charms. Like anything I suppose the long term value will be more for higher quality craftsmanship.
Give me your address and I will send you some "tulips from Amsterdam". Greetings from a Dutch goldstacker. Hope you enjoyed Amsterdam.

Amsterdam was lovely and crazy! 😄 I loved the canals and architecture. Also had some delicious cheese in Edam. 🧀 I had never seen something like the red light district. Fascinating place.
