Weekly Family Silver Half-Dollar Hunt!!!
It is that time of the week again for our Family half-dollar silver hunt. We did not get to hunt our $1,000 worth of half-dollars last week because we were on vacation in Florida. The boys were super excited to open up the boxes and get started.
We all searched very intently but we ended up with the same results we have gotten now the last four hunts. Zero silver half-dollars. I am beginning to think that we might have exhausted the silver half-dollar population here in central Kentucky. This means we have searched over 8,000 coins these last four weeks and not found a single silver half-dollar here in Kentucky.
We still had a blast looking so I think we will try again next week. Sorry there was nothing more exciting to share about the hunt but that is how it goes. Thank you for stopping by and hopefully next week we will hit the jackpot!
It's great that the kids are into the hunt, it is good to get them involved. What is their treat for helping you look through the stash?
When we find silver we divide it up. They are quite the little stackers.
Awesome, skin in the game, shows good character when raising them to understand what real currency is, not paper notes disguised as debt.

This is now the longest. 3 weeks in a row was the longest before now we are at 4

My wife collects the 50 cent prices too. We just landed a franklin last week!
Franklins are great. What is your wife’s strategy?
She has our bank save all there 50 cent pieces and we bring them home roll them up and stash them away. score some silver every now and again. We figure the 50 cent pieces will be collectible too someday. Also take all there Eisenhower dollars. they are already worth about 3 bucks average.
That is a great strategy. You must have a really good relationship with your bank. I try to get all the Eisenhower’s as well. They are getting really hard to find

Never done coin roll hunt like this. I only use a local credit union so I don't want to ask them to keep getting boxes. I am totally jealous!
I used to know a few tellers, and scored a few good things for cheap, but not much. I need to find another source!
I have found if you take the coins back to different bank then you get them they are more willing to order for you
Bummer man! You are one hunt closer to finding more though!!! Do you think you are getting some of the same coins you've already searched?
That is what my wife said. She thinks we should mark a few to see if they come back. Might have to try it.
