Random Change from Canada
A couple weeks back when I was going through my change I found these random Canadian coins. I remember as a kid always finding them and thinking it was neat. Now I just thought it was kind of strange.
First I have to admit I like the designs on them. I think Canadian money is cooler to look at.
But how did I get them?
How did they wind up here? How did I aquire them? It's not like you can spend them here lol 🤣
My final question goes out to all my Canadian friends. Do you guys wind up with random American change sometimes? Can you spend it? Or does it just wind up shooting around like mine? Anyone want 80 cents CAD? 🤣
I get US change all the time, I just keep piling it up though. Way back in '03 2 friends and I went to Atlanta and almost ran out of money on the way back. Lucky for us I had a few rolls of US coinage stashed in my bag so we could get gas!
lol good thing you plan ahead. It's funny that you find it a bunch too. Hopefully a little constitutional. Maybe I'll start a little collection just in case I ever make it north of the border.
I see some American coins here but my local bank will not take them in exchange for US bills so I simply give them to friends heading across the border. Oddly, my CIBC branch would give me a USD Cash card but won't allow me to load it from my USD account, only from my CDN account ( so they can make a profit from their lousy exchange rate). I actually stack some US Constitutional silver for my 'The govt will bail us out thinking" US relatives.
Gotta have that 90% stash! Who every said pirates don't like junk lol ☠️
And it cracks me up that we both find them and can't spend them...
The Bank gladly takes them at face but I bet they sort them out in large lots as to repatriate them across the border for a tidy exchange profit.
I think that some of the best coin designs are those from the Royal Canadian Mint! In my entire adult life, I only came across one Canadian coin in my change jar.
I'm sure you could work something out with one of our friends up north.
