Blockchain Timestamping
Even though I don't believe in intellectual property and am not the sort of person that would ever sue someone for infringement, I'm very aware that a lot of others still would. Because of this, I have to protect myself from potential IP trolls that might claim to have originated my work in the future. This is where blockchains come in. I've already been time-stamping my story outlines on the bitcoin blockchain but, truth be told, it's not very convenient or user friendly. Steemit, on the other hand, provides a much better mechanism for this purpose. We can post our content here and refer back to it at any time in the future, in the event of a dispute. As an added benefit, everything we post can be curated by our peers so that our creative projects can take on a certain amount of crowdsourced value. For instance, you might read the outline for a novel and have some useful suggestions or criticisms to contribute that could result in a better final product. I'm excited to start the ball rolling with this and I'd like to encourage other creative artists to give it a shot too. Just bear in mind that, for this to work, posts have to include personal information to link the creation to your identity. In my case, I'll just include my name, email address, website, and photograph. To add further security, we could also invite witnesses that know us personally to post comments with contact/ID info of their own, if they wish.
