RE: Is 11m SP such a high threshold for the return proposal on SPS?

in #steemproposals5 years ago

Interesting thoughts. I just want to add that the votes for witnesses varies from 30 million to 40 million SP in the top20.
And the top proposal has around 19 million SP in votes. Around half in terms of participation. Maybe it needs more time to get more people involved.
Good post 👍

Yes indeed. I checked that too, to see where the 11m threshold would be on the witness ranking. It turned out to be around position 48th. But you are right, those witness votes are consolidated in time, and some won't change for months if not years. That's why witness votes are only partially a good parallel to SPS voting, because the dynamic is completely different. Plus the 30 votes limit for witnesses might work in reverse too. If one has a limit of 30, he or she might be tempted to cast all or close to all votes. If there is no limit, then maybe 1 or 2 votes is his or her limit (and I'm not saying here that someone should vote for 30 or more proposals, just that SP is distributed differently in witness voting and in SPS voting).

Yeah 🤔 you are right, SPS is more dynamic than witnesses, then requires more attention from the users. That being said, I think it is time to give more protagonism to proxies.

I agree, under these circumstances of dynamic voting, proxies will play a more important role. We already have a major player who's influence is more than 5m SP from proxies.
