Very informative! I assumed that most of what was collected in recycling bins was being recycled properly, and it is disappointing to learn otherwise. I've long been curious as to what rationale is used by manufacturers when they select plastics for packaging — for instance, why use a "5" plastic which cannot be easily recycled instead of a "3" wghich can be? Is it because of heat-resistant properties in ovens, or what? So, there's another idea for a post sometime if you or I ever have "free time" to research it!
