Everything comes from Nothing
I am fascinated by the art of creation. Bringing a thing into being that wasn't there before. Some people take the art of creation for granted (it's 'just their job' in their own minds) but if one can stand back and look at something being created out of nothing, it is quite remarkable.
This is the role of the entrepreneur. To bring a new business into the world. Then within that business there will be acts of creation every day. Be it new products being designed and made before being sold, or services that are designed and delivered to customers.
Too often we can become 'busy' doing stuff and start to feel lost in the weeds. This 'busy work' can be distracting as it often initially feels like important work but in my own experience, I find that a dawning feeling of frustration is derived from a lack of creative work in favour of busy work.
Too much busy work over creative work is bad for any business.
You might feel comfortable that you have a winning formula of a product or service. Customers are loving it and the cash is pouring in. But if you rest on your laurels and focus all of your time and energy on the busy work of shipping this product or service, then you're putting your future business in danger.
Your role as entrepreneur and business owner is to ensure that the team keep returning to the whiteboard to explore ideas for new products or services or tweaks to the existing stock. To keep on creating.
I think there is also a human aspect to creative work that shouldn't be overlooked. Too much routine, tried-and-tested busy work becomes monotonous and draining of energy and enthusiasm. Whereas creative work keeps the fires burning in terms of energy and vitality - the promise of what might be discovered tomorrow that just might change the world.
So take pride in the products and services that your business designs and makes every day. Reflect on what you have left behind as a legacy each day: from detailed product specification to your personal journal entry. These are gifts from you to the world that will live way beyond you.
Go be creative. And make something out of nothing. Today.

Hi Steve. Most people take everything for granted. Things need to be thought of and then from the drawing board to reality. They then need to keep ahead of developments because your product is now out there for others to improve on. The bed I developed took literally 18 months of work and 100's of tests. I haven't launched it yet as such but plan to soon but it costs money lol.

You have obviously seen certain mattresses in boxes. Bed in a box as such. I have with a few specialists worked on a pocket spring bed in a box with a base. Anyone who wanted a double bed could basically pop it into their care and go home. They could even take it on the train etc. No one has done a proper pocket spring rolled up mattress. Various standards etc with memory and latex foams all high end.
Sounds cool. And solves a real problem. Can see that working well for you. When do you go live with it?

South Africa. I have the factory and all the machinery to manufacture. I have checked can fly them in at a cost of about 45 pounds with Emirates and still be way under any market competition.
