First Visit to Republic of Georgia, a Eastern European Country

in #steempress5 years ago (edited)

Hey Steemian. This is my first steemit post. Very nice to meet you here. Here is my first post about my visit to the Republic of Georgia, a Eastern European Country.

Before visiting Georgia, I have no idea about this country except the Georgia state in the United States. Actually, there are totally different. Georgia is located on the Black Sea coast of the Caucasus in southwest Asia, across the Eurasian continent, bordering Russia to the north and Turkey, Armenia and Azerbaijan to the south. Georgia used to be a member of Soviet Union. Importantly, Georgia is the hometown of Joseph Stalin, who was the former leader of Soviet Union. Joseph Stalin is well known celebrity in China. Almost everyone in China knows him, but few people in China know his hometown.

The most impressive building for me is the Sameba Cathedral, which is also named as Holy Trinity Cathedral of Tbilisi. I thought this building might have hundreds of years of history. However it is a brand new cathedral. It was built between 1995 and 2004. The Sameba Cathedral is located on Mount Ilya on the left bank of the Mtkvari River in Tbilisi.  It is the largest cathedral built in Georgia since the disintegration of the Soviet Union. It is now the Georgian Orthodox Church. The cathedral complex consists of a courtyard wall, a bell tower, and several chapels. The main building is nearly 100 meters high and is the tallest church in Georgia, almost seen from all angles in Tbilisi.

The main building of the cathedral is about 100 meters high and is the tallest church in Georgia. It can be seen in all parts of the city. The floor is covered with marble tiles and the altar is decorated with mosaic tiles. It is worth mentioning that its dome is 7.5 meters high, all covered with pure gold, and half of these gold is donated by Georgians spontaneously.

Tips for visitors.

  1. Free entry
  2. No photo inside the building
  3. No shorts for men and No skirt for women

Hope you all like my post. Thanks, Steemians.
